It's always a big luck to find a good study programme for a less 'conventional' period of time, the Summer Semester. But in Germany, this mission is possible and many resources are offering extended search engines (today I use Hochschulkompass) which allow us to select only those programmes, which start predominantly in April and have application periods until the mid of January or even later.
Nevertheless, looking for an interesting MA programme is quite a headache, but only if you have no idea what you want to study. For this article, I picked up the issue of Democracy and found two Master programmes which enable the application during this winter.
Master Democracy and Governance,
University of Giessen
This Degree Programme is open to all Bachelor graduates in Political and Social Sciences, As the University proudly states, this programme '... focuses on one of the vital political challenges of our times' and deals with the threats the state's democracy has to face, like climate change, poverty, terrorism, cyber crime etc.
University of Regensburg
Actually, it's a more deep look into the area of Democracy within Political Science. A relatively uncomplicated application process and the deadline till 15.01.2018 makes this programme attractive for those applicants who spontaneously decide to study in Summer Semester. The main thematic fields of the programme are Political Theory and the History of Ideologies, Western Governmental Systems, Democracy and Authoritarianism in the East-Central Europe, International Policies.
