The programme aims to promote students and professionals employed at a higher education institution in the eligible countries, to complete a master’s or PhD programme at an Austrian higher education institution. Only the applicants from Armenia, Georgia, Moldova as well as some African and Asian countries are eligible for this programme.

- Ernst Mach Grant for studying at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule)
The grants are financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) and are open to graduates and undergraduates who are studying at a university outside Europe and who are participating in a master program or have successfully completed at least four semesters of their studies within a bachelor- or diploma program at the time of taking up the grant. The minimum duration of stay is 4 months, maximum stay in Austria is up to 10 months.

- Richard Plaschka Grant for historians
a) Richard Plaschka Fellowship Pre-Doc
Eligible for application are only Predoctoral Fellows, who are after finishing their Master or diploma studies pursuing a doctoral/PhD program outside Austria and who want to deepen their scientific and specialist knowledge.
b) Richard Plaschka Fellowship PostDoc
Eligible for application are highly qualified post-docs in the field of history who are primarily occupied with Austria-related topics. Recipients of Richard Plaschka grants can work as visiting researchers at university departments and institutes and carry out specialist studies in libraries, archives or at research institutions.

- Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria
Established by the Austrian National Council, this programme provides scholarships for all areas of education and further education.
Target groups are:
a) Undergraduates, Graduates and Postgraduates wishing to pursue research in Austria in regard to their diploma, master thesis or their dissertation can apply for this scholarship;
b) Postdocs, working at universities outside of Austria wishing to pursue research in Austria can apply for a research stay at scientific research institutions (e.g. universities, Austrian Academy of Sciences, National Library, National Archive) in Austria;
c) Persons wishing to pursue a master degree programme in the field of international relations which directly entitle the graduate to study in a doctoral/PhD programme at a post-secondary educational institution.
